COUNCIL APPOINTMENTS.
The Prime Minister has so far not made any announcement regarding the names of the gentlemen who are to be called to the Legislative Council. It is significant, however, that) in the lists of probable appointees wTiich have been published by the city newspapers there are no. Marlborough or Nelson names. Hie representation of these-provinces in. the Lower House is so numerically weak that it would be greatly to the advantage of the people of the two districts that they should have further representation, inthe Council. Mr Massey, when he Was in Blenheim, expressed high satisfaction with the natural resources of the district, and admitted that Maryborough's interests had in the past hardly received that attention from the Legislature 'that they deserved. Mr Massey lias now an opportunity of proving tihe sincerity of his appreciation of the importance of Marlborough. We trust that when the "numbers go up," as they are expected to do this week, we shall be able to congratulate some prominent Miariborough. gentleman upon liis nomination to the Upper House.
