The ■ Inspector reported that under the circumstances the roads were fairly good, thongli many small holes were forming, which would require 'attention if they were not to- give trouble during the' winter. The grader, used now in places before the hard frjosts set in, would do a lot towards letting rain 'water run off them. lie .reported in detail as to the. boundary bridge on Avery's crossroad, which he had inspected with the Wairau Road Board's inspector. The bridge was liteing attended to. It could be,lowered about two feet and ehoritened about four feet. A con-, crete pier f or sill would be, required. The watering;: place would be better on the south side of the culvert in Redwood Street than on che Alabama \Road, where- there would be a tendency for the Stones to roll in and get under the pipes. Some 'fencing would :be required at- Alabama Road. With an expenditure of about £15 the whole scheme could be carried out. During the month repairs were effected on ijgbrooke Flat and on the' Middle Road, and a. concrete wing attacked to the Fairhall bridge. It would take about a week to finish tihe bank at Seventeen Valley. He had enough gravel out at the Overflow tor repairs at that end. A bad piece of road from Allan's cross-xoad. to Parker's "old stockyards wanted gravelling, preferably before the bridge w-au taken away. Planks on the Fairhall bridge and on P.attie's ! bridge required renewal, aaid a culvert i was needed on the Middle , Road | between Mr Duffy's and Mr Gee's ; properties.
