It was unanimously decided that a first-class light and fog signal on the summiti was the- only satisfactory and acceptable scheme of marking the dangerous Three Kings. TJie meeting caikd on the Minister for Marine to fulfil his promise to light the Three Kings.
"GLARING MIS-STATEMENTS.''
"; AUCKLAND, March 23. Speaking-at. the meeting of shipmasters in reference to lighting the Three Kings, Captain Ross (chairman) said that as far as he was concerned this would be the last meeting he would attend to consider negotiations with the Minister for Marine. Mr Fisher's remarks contained a glaring mis-statement, almost beyond conception coming from a Minister of the Crown. , Mr. Fisher had received the joint '.opinion of 25 master mariners, 'indicating where the light should, be put. In the face of that he now stated that the position for the light had never been pointed out to him by those interested. The Minister, as an honorable man, should withdraw this statement.
I The chairman was strongly urged to reconsider his decision. A' resolution asking him to do so was carried unanimously, and he agreed.
