The_ arrangements regarding the commissariat at training camps were referred to at Thursday's meeting of the Farmers' Union, and. Colonel Heard, who was addressing the gathering, was questioned regarding this. .^ Unseemly struggling for food, he said, was due- to improper organisation amongst the units: "I was at one camp, and I saw a /Maori lying in his tent groaning. • What's the anatter with that man?' I asked, and was told that he had eaten sixteen sausages for . breakfast." (Laughter.) "You see," concluded Colonel Hoard, "he had been sent to fetch the breakfast, and there had not boen sufficient supervision." (Laughter.)
