STEFANSON'S ARCTIC EXPEDITION. OTTAWA, June 18. The Stefanson expedition has sailed from Victoria (British Columbia). The Premier (Sir Richard Moßride) bade .the explorers farewell in the name of British Columbia. Stefanson hopes to t discover valuable mineral areas and ' place them under the British, flag. The expedition is likely to return to Hudson Bay.
HONORING ANTARCTIC HEROES
LONDON, June 18. , Petty-officers Orean and Lashley, of the Terra Nova, have been recoriimended for the Albert medal for iie^oism in the Antarctic.
STRUCK BY LIGHTNING
LONDON, June 18. Lightning killed three haymakers who took refuge in a shed at Braintree, and also a farmer in Hampshire. Houses in various districts were wrecked.
PERSIAN GUN-RUNNERS
TEHERAN, June 18
A gang of Tangistani gun-runners in the Persian Gulf murdered eight of the crew of a pearling boat, and looted the pearls, in retaliation for the Sheik of Dubai seizing a cargo of guns. British cruisers seized many Tangistani dhows, after a fight in which the British lost one seaman killed and five wounded.

WASHINGTON, June 18. The American troops at the Philippines finally dispersed the Moros, losing 14 killed.
FIGHTING IN MEXICO
NEW YORK, June 18
Advices from El Paso state that massacres and outrages in NortheVn Mexico continue. The- Federal forces arranged for the dispatch of the women and children through the rebel lines. The Federals filled the trains, intending to attack the rebels. The latter captured the train and executed 30 prisoners in revenge and killed others during the fight.

The Methodist Conference adopted .•ta revised constitution for the Austr.alasian Board of Missions, providing that representatives of annual conferiences in mission districts be' made members of the Board, which will con■sist of 34 members, of which New Zealand will be allotted three.
INCENDIARTSM
SYDNEY; June 18. Yesterday evening, after a few hours' absence, Mrs Ramaciotti discovered her house at Petersham on : fire in five places. The furniture was all smashed, and £500 worth of pictuxes defaced. Many valuable heirlooms and trinkets were missing.
A SCHOONER WRECKED. BRISBANE, June 19
The schooner Norna, when searching for the wreck of the Yongala, was wrecked herself on Masthead Reef. crew were saved.
