BIG WEIGHTS OF CROSSBREDS READILY ABSORBED.

The outstanding feature of the auctions is undoubtedly the ready absorption ol big weights of crossI reds. It is here that we have the surprise packet of the series. During the past week it has been almost a daily occurrence to have offered from 6000 to SOOO bales of crossbreda from New Zealand and Punta Arenas, and they have all been absorbed without the least hesitancy,, and with increasing competition. We cannot say that higher prices have been railing, but it is a fact that there have been more people for the wools, ;; clear .proof that there is still confi'lenoe felt in the future of these wools. Some fair weights of faulty

40's preparing wools have gone at IGA,d, while the heavier and more stumpy grown lots usually realised 10d. When we come to 46's, these soldi round lid to lHd, while halfbreds made anywhere from 11 £d to 13d. We call 36's to 48's crossbreds firm at March closing parity, but fine half-breds have generally moved in buyers' favor,1 down to *,d. German buyers have bought more of these wools than was the case in March, and a few nice lots have gone to Roubaix, but 95 per cent, of the offerings have been shifted, by Bradford, and will either serve for combing there, or recasing in the hope of liGing able to sell suitable lots to American buyers. The offering of scoured crossbreds has been very limited, and these have sold on a parity with March. Slipes have been on the whole rather scarce, but have sold readily, good half-bred lambs making from 17d to 17Jd, fine crossbreds 15d to 15id, Leicester lambs making from 14d to 14^d, and Lincoln, lambs 13d to 13£ d. The call for seconds and thirds has been exceedingly strong, and for these wools excellent figures have been forthcoming. The carry over of crossbreds is much less thaii looked likely # at the beginning of the series, this fact illustrating how they have been catalogued and absorbed.
