THE GREY SEAT.

MR MICHEL STILL UN-

DECIDED

HOKITIKA, June 17. . A representative deputation from Greymouth arrived this morning to present a requisition, bearing several hundred names, from residents of the Grey electorate, asking Mr H. L. Michel to allow himself to be nominated for the Grey seat in the interests of the Reform Government.

Mr Michel replied feelingly regarding the death of Sir Arthur Guinness. Recognising the compliments paid him. he said that he had also received hundreds of telegrams urging him to stand, but he felt that he owed a duty to the 3000 electors of Westland who had loyally supported him. He would consult them before giving a decided answer.

After a meeting of his supporters has been held, Mr Michel will reply to the requisition.
