QUEENSLAND PARLIAMENT OPENS.

A WHITE LABOR INDUSTRY

[Press Association.] . (Received June 17, 8.40 p.m.) BRISBANE, June 17. Parliament has opened. The Governor's Speech indicated that a Bill would immediately be introduced to make sugar-growing manufacturing in Queensland a white labor industry, and to provide that growers receive a direct amount, eciual to the excise duty which would be abolished, without deduction in respect of any lien on their crops or any other encumbrance. Other measures foreshadowed include a Bill to raise a loan for the purpose of retiring several existing loans.
