Dear Sir, —I am writing you a few1 lines to tell you how I became a rider of a Douglas lightweight motor-oyele. Some considerable time ago I ordered an 8-h.p. machine -with side-oar, and owing to delay I decided to buy a lightweight to potter, about on until the arrival of the 8-hjp., and then intended to sell the lightweight. My choice fell on a Douglas, and I bought a 1911 model. I had always believed in a heavy-weight machin&i and, not haying previously ridden a lightweight, you can imagine the surprise I received at the ease I could start and the power developed by this machine. I had many thousands of miles pleasure out of this machine, and when my 8-h.p. arrived I simply .couldn't part with the Douglas, so I decided to keep the two, using the large machine for side-car and the small maohine for solo riding. When the 1912 Douglas arrived I purchased one, and I find it is an ideal machine, very easy to handle, can be started at a walk, upkeep very light. My back tyre has done over 6000 miles \and is not worn out yet. The speed obtained by this model is enormous, and I can climb hills that higher power machines find difficult. In all my ridjng on Douglas machines I have never experienced a mechanical stop, which speaks volumes for the material, and magnificent workmanship of the Douglas motors. In conclusion, I may state that never would I purchase a heavy-weight motor for solo riding, and I can honestly recommend the Douglas motor-cycle as the best light-weight on the market.
