[to the editor.]
Sir.—No one regretted more than ; myself the unfortunate incident at the close of last 'night's meeting. Councillor . Carr for ,some reason appears to believe that I have some personal animus against him. I can only say that in this he is absolutely mistaken. He is a Councillor for whose ability and judgment I have a respect second to none, and.for whose Ions: and valuable service' as a member of many 7ocal bodies I hare much -admiration. Since I have been a member of the Borough Council, Councillor Carr has many times given me good cause to forfeit him that respect; but I have always remembered that he is a man many years my senior, and that he has had a far larger experience in public matters than I. and is one whose judgment I would generally rather follow than oppose. We do not see eye to ey© on the water and drainage question, but it is a pity that-he should take such strong exception to my opposition. The proposal, is not ft personal one, and certainly not one in whici there; need be created any bitter feeling. ! Let everyone fight _for the opinions' they hold without-bias-" or feeling, for surply the question is not one in which any of us need make bad friends, no matter what the result.
