Detectives in Adelaide are investigating a case of alleged fraud under the Maternity Bonus Act. It is stated that the department has lost at least £150 through the payment of bonuses for unborn babies, but the full amount has not yet been made up. A warrant has been issued for me arrest of a man who, it is alleged, forged the names of fire doctors to fraudulent certificates. It is further stated tl/at a man who was engaged in collecting accounts for the doctor was in the habit of drawing up certificates which were paid. The man suspected had been going round' Adelaide registering births at a fee of Is 3d each, and at the same time fixing up baby bonus papers in behalf of medical men who were required to sign them. When he disappeared one doctor made inquiries, and found that his name appeared on certificates for nonexistent ohildren.
