In opening the Supreme Court, Mr rustice Chapman, remarking, on* the ;:2;ht calendar, said that there was •lmost a total absence of serious ritne. "I have had some experience :f Palmerston and Wanganui, and he general condition so far as crime ■s concerned is very satisfactory."
