A MARLBOROUGH (?) TEAM

[to the editor.]

Sir, —I am not the Maryborough Biflo Union, but one of those unfortunate selectors whom. Mr "Bull'seye" discredits so unmercifully in your issue of Saturday last. His grievance is that the Link water Club was not represented, and I do not suppose that I can convince him that two members of that club were chosen; for I met him in Picton on Tuesday after the match was over, and he would not take my explanation, but said that the two members I mentioned were not active members, only honorai-y members. All I can say is that both of them were entered as members of the Linkwater Rifle Club by Mr "Bull'seye" at a meeting of the' Rifle Union last season, and both of them being good shots, and in the front rank, as Mr "Bull's-eye" says, one of them was asked whether they could set away, and the reply was that it would be impossible fpr either of them to go. I refer jx> Mr McIntosh. Post Office, Seddum, and! Mr Simmons, Railway Office, Picton. With reference to making the team up to twelve, the captain of the battleship team, on thie point of starting for th& range, said they had twelve men—could we make our team up to twelve? As we knew that the two Messrs Henderson, (having seen them before) were in Picton, they were found and asked to go (no choosing about it). Had Mr "Bull'seye" been handy, there is not the slightest doubt that he would have been asked to make one of the two reauired. With regard to the targets and the management of the Rifle Union, no doubt the Union will be able to satisfy Mr "Bull's-eye on this matter, unless the Zam-BuK has done its work too successfully. ONE OF THE SELECTORS
