GREY BY-ELECTION.

THE LIBERAL CANDIDATE

I ■ GREYMOUTH, June 14. : Mr Hanan has decided to contest ' the by-election (rendered vacant by the death of Sir Arthur Guinness) as i the Liberal candidate. I At a small meeting of the Reform party the Hon. Mr Herdman gave an address. He stated that a Government candidate must be found. The meeting unanimously requested Mr H. L. Michel to allow himself to be nominated, but he did not seem i inclined to accede, and is taking time ;to consider the request.
