An extraordinary incident by which the progress of a funeral was rudely disturbed occurred in Manchester..
The., funeral . was ( that of a widowef's son, and as ;the hearse approached the grave a land-slide occurred, as a result of which the four horses' attached to the vehicle fell into a,tremendous hole, and were buried alive.

Having recovered from the confusion into which they were thrown by this s-udden and unexpected contretemps, the mourners removed tlie eofim from the hearse and carried it ■over the remaining distance to the grave.
