WELLINGTON, Jan. 17. A man named Michael .Malone waa recently arrested for drunkenness, and! died in the Terrace Gaol.

At the inquest it was found that he had been badly knocked^ about, and' Dt. Fyffe had no hesitation in saying that he believed that the man haa been done to death. Deceased was marked in numerous places, and the right parietal bone was fractured. No further light could be throw!*' on the occurrence at the time, but recently a detective noticed a man.' wearing clothes which did not fit him.* He questioned the man, and was not satisfied with the answer.
