ATTEMPT TO WRECK A TRAIN.

WELLINGTON, Nov. 22. The passengers by the main trunk express which left Auckland tor Wellington at 9.10 o'clock on Wednesday evening had a rather sensational experience at Taupiri, near Huntly.
The engine ran into a sleeper that had been placed across the line. The timber caught in the cowcatcher, and the train was delayed 13 minutes at Taupiri in consequence. , The lost time was made up on the journey down, and the train arrived to schedule hour (4.11 p.m.).
