THE MARCONI INTERESTS.
COMMITTEE OF INQUIRY. \
[press association.](Received Nov."s, 9.55 a.m.)' LONDON, Nov. 4. Continuing his evidence before the Select Committee on the Marconi ■contracts, Mo- King, Secretary of the Post Office, admitted that while negotiations were in progress no evidence was given that Marconi was capable of sending 50 words per. minute as stipulated in the;1' contract, but a demonstration was promised. No Post Office experts inspected _the Marconi stations. It was realised that if, after the Marconi stations were built, the Poulsen system proved more efficient, it could "be substituted at an outlay of £18j,000 per station. He admitted the' contract was entered into between the Post _ Office and Mr Godfrey Isaac (managing director of the wireless company) 'before terms had been submitted to the Admiralty and War Office. The contract was perfectly clean, and not political pressure had been exercised. He added that as far .as the Post Office was concerned Sir Rtifus Isaacs was ignorant of the whole thing.
