Flemington week opened unfortunately. Showers fell during the morning, and rain fell steadily to noon and continued until the Derby was run. Results: —
Maiden Plate: Moe 1, Onega 2, Waggle 3. Won by four lengths. Time, lmin. 42§sec. Maribynong' Plate 9: Beragoon 1, Kildalton 2, Scotch Malt 3. Won by two lengths. Time, lmin. 2sec. Hotham Handicap: Lord Aldwyn 1, Nangar 2, Golden Point 3. Won hy half a length. Time, 2m:n. 36|sec. Derby: Wolowa 1,-Cider 2/Perdita 3. From a good start Cider went to to the front. The field closed up round the back of the course, Cider still leading. Cider led into the straight, but Wolowa came to the front at the distance and won by three-quarters of a length. Time, 2min. 39£ sec. Flemington Stakes: Duke Foote 1, Eudoras 2, Piastre 3. . Won by half a length. Time, 2min. Bsec. Coburg Handicap: Walter Tyrrell 1, Deeside 2, Tadanga 3. Won by two lengths.
