Turks fleeing on the evening of the 22nd from. Sarantaporos traversed Metaxa and seized 52 of the inhabitants. They were conveyed to Servije and cast into prison, where there were 73 other Greeks. The Governor liberated the 125 of them. The soldiers armed the crowd, who surrounded the Greeks and massacred 121, including five priests Their noses and hands were then cut off. A Christian villager was brought to Janina and murdered in the market place in the presence of the authorities. . •' •
