ANGLO-INDIANS IN TASMANIA
WERE THEY "HAD?"
[PBESa ASSOCIATION.! . HOBART, Aug. 17. __ The Premier promised! Ministerial inquiry into the circumstances leading to several Anglo-Indians taking orchard land near Devonport. Six of the men signed! statements to the effect that they threw up good positions in India. They understood that the agent who sold the land was acting in behalf of the Government. It is alleged that they were misled! by lithographed copies of letters bearing the Government seal. Some of the men are now stranded.
