TRUCKERS SURRENDER

DUNEDIN, Aug. 17. The truckers' strike at Kaitangata was declared! off late yesterdlay afterneon by the men themselves. Mr Howard, a member of the Federation executive, arrived yesterday. A lengthy meeting followed, and as the outcome a deputation was appointed to intar-vtew the managenient, and ask If the strikers would be taken, back unconditionally. The management refused the re^ quest, adhering to the previous condition that those going back to work must join the Arbitration Union. The meeting then decided to declare the strike ended. >
