A cablegram from Paris announces the death of If. Jules Onassent, the well-known composer.

News has been received at Wanganui of the death at Los Angeles on June 25th of Mrs Henry, wife of Dr Henry, the American evangelist.

. The death is announced from Palmerston Nor€h of Mr Frank Williams, who had been postmaster there for the past two years. Mr Williams was formerly stationed at Blenheim and Wellington.

Mr J. HtcDermott, foreman at the Pieton reclamation works, is suffering from appendicitis, and is at present xindergoing treatment at the Pieton Hospital.

The death occurred at Singapore on Tuesday last of Mr J. M. H. Butt, eldest son of Mr J.M. Butt, of Wellingtons , The late Mr Butty-had been for several years in the service of the Eastern Extension Telegraph Co.

A cablegram from London states that a bulletin announces that General Booth is slightly better. Ensign Hughson, of the,local Salvation Army' Staff, has received a telegram from Brigadier Gist stating that the General is much worse, and requesting united prayers.

The sad news was received in Picton on Thursday (reports the Press) of the death at Onehunga of Mrs Sedgwiek, wife of the Rev. A. H. Sedgwiek, for very many years vicar of Picton. The deceased lady was a daughter of the late Dr Scaly, of Nelson. The heartfelt sympathy of all the older residents of Picton is extended to the Rev. Mr Sedgwick in his bereavement. It is twenty-five years since the Rev-. Mr Sedgwick and his wife came to labor in Picton, and the majority of households in the town hold memories never to be forgotten of their kindly actions in the past.
