VICTIM OF METHYLATED SPIRITS.
CHRISTCHURCH, May 14. At the Inquest on Helen Goscomb, married, :aged 38; who died in a lavatory on Sunday night, Dr Irving said that methylated spirits was found in :'the stomach, one organs were in a degenerate; condition, and there was a mark of a blow on the chin. Tlie blow might ha,Ye been sufficient to cause death. ' .Frank Goscoitib, the husband, said that he had' been drinking methylated spirits with his wife because it was icheap. He quarrelled witih her on :the Sunday but did not strike-her. ;He found her on Monday in the lavatory dead. Detective Gibson said he found the -body on the "floor, wedtred n^mly between the walls. Mr Bishop. S.M., said that the sale of methylated spirits should be stoppedi because of the prevalence in the use of it as a drink. The' inquest was.vadjourned.
