EDUCATION BOARD.

T3ie monthly meeting of the uVlarlfcorough Education Board was held Yesterday. There- were present: Messrs' It. McCalhim (Chairman), E. H- Pem-y, J. Conoily, J. Fulton. C. Ferguson, H. M. Reader, J. Storey, and J. J. White. LOCAL GOVERNMENT BILL. Mr Hylton, the Secretary, reported Glaring attended the conference of local bodies and represented that the JJoard wad opposed to the proposal to include Education Boards in the - general scheme of amalgamation provided icr by the Local Government Bill. A circular was received from the North Canterbury Board suggesting a conference of representatives of Edu- ■ cation Boards, to be held at Welling--ton in May, prior to the Dominion Oonforenco ofdelcgates of local, bodies on May 21st, with a view to protesting against the proposed alteration in the constitution of these bodies. It was resolved to endorse the "Sorth .
