May 18. ; In reply to a' communication sent to General Godley by the Times, asking his views on the honorary Territorial movement,, the General stated that he considered it an .excellent idea. It; could do the most help to the De- ; fence scheme generally by remaining purely a civilian organisation outside the military forces of the Dominion. The Governor and Minister for Defence both approved, of the; scheme, and, said General Godley: "I think it should1, be kept an entirely non-poli-tical organisation, formed, to express interest in and generally help the Territorial units." .Honorary, .members could, the General continued, show their interest most practically "by assisting the Territorials, who may be in difficulties, "by combating prejudice and the misunderstanding of the scheme, and generally making the Territorials realize that they nave the civilian eemmunitv at their hacks.
