AN OFFER ACCEPTED

Our Havclock cbrrespondent writes . At che adjourned meeting of the Havclock Town Board, held on Friday last, there were present: Messrs W. H. Smith H. ' M. (leader, E: H. Smith, and W. Pickeiing. . Mr Buckman was unavoidably absent through indisposition; but Mr Reader-informed I>lie Board that he had seea Mr Buckman, and he said that he was -anxious that th-a lighting scheme sho'ild be,, gone on- with sjs speedily as possible, and that he was in tavor oi Mr Foord's offer being accepted. So far as Picton was concerned, assurances had been received that the plant was jrivmg satisfaction, and the Avork had beon'well done, by the Company that had put.in the plant. The price of meters was also required, and it was deaiiable that the town should have some seeuity that the work done would- be of a permanent nature.
