SWIMMING.

A CLUB FOR BLENHEIM

Notwithstanding the unfavorable i weather, a large number of those interested in swimming assembled at the Club Hotel last evening for the purpose of forming an Amateur Swimming and Life-saving Club tor Blenheim, to be affiliated to the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association. The meeting was very enthusiastic, and with the promised support, there is no doubt that a very strong club will soon exist for the encouragement of this healthy pastime. Several trophies have already been. promised, and it was decided to hold a carnival at an early date. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr R. McCallum, M.P.; president, Dr Walker; vicepresidents, his Worship the Mayor (Mr E. H. Penny), Messrs J. McKmley, W. T. Churchward, T. A. Revell, S J. Heffer, C. H. Mills, J. W. Goulding, and Dr Innes; committee, Messrs J. Eyre, E. Lucas, W.; fc*. Wakelin, H. P. Fougere, A. Prior; captain. Mr E. Pfankuch; vice-cap-tain. Mr N. R. Stone; treasurer, Mr A. Cameron; secretary, Mr N. R Stone: auditor, Mr W. G. Wakelm

GENERAL

It was decided that the colors' of the club be blue with a white star, and that a water-polo team be selected to compete at the New Zealand championship meeting to be held at Christchurch. . ' A special feature of the club will ha. the encouragement of swimming among the ladies and the juveniles. The meeting closed with votes of thanks to the donors of trophies and the chairman.
