JOHNSON'S CONDITION

PROMOTER'S STARTLING

STATEMENT.

A cable message to the Sydney Sun dated! 6th September stated:— That Jack Johnson is in grave danger of losing his title is. the startling statement made by Promoter James White, who' says that the heavy-weight champion hiasi refused to comply with his contract to perform publicly in Paris, because of his being afraidi to show his bad condition.

White says that it was .originally, believed that Johnson had a soft snap with Bombardier. Wells. .]'.. "Johnson realises now," adds White, "that he has a hard task in front of him, and wants to back down. But I have him under a heavy bond, and will compel him to meet Wells." The white man will receive 50 per cent, of the royalty on the moving pictures, which have been sold for £20,000. Of that sum £11,000 has been paid, while the remainder hasl to be handed over an hour before the fight.
