AN AUCKLAND FLOOD.

A TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR

..•'•■■ [press association .\ AUCKLAND, June 10. A torrential downpour of rain, this morning flooded Queen Street, the water flowing over the kerbs up to the building line in mjiny places. Many cellars, were,.flooded!,.• sonic as much as four feet. A good deal of damage was done to goods.below the street level in the various shops. Nearly all the hotels and Restaurants in the lower part of the city suffered severely.« ~.

In numerous instances ;fires: were extinguished, the cooks working kneedeep in water. The. leading;. hotels were preparing thei midday meal. The downpour lasted about anliour, followed by a steady drizzle.
