SHOCKING TRAGEDY.

A shocking tragedy occurred at Colyton last nighty which "resulted in the death of Stephen Melvin, an old settler.

Melvin, who had had an engineering training, was experimenting with an acetylene gas plant made by himself with a milkcan, and an oil drum, when an explosion took place. Terrible injuries were inflicted upon Melvin's face, and he died half an hour later.
