RUGBY UNION.

A meeting of the management committee of the Rugby Union was1 held last night, and was attended by Messrs J. H. Morrison (chairman), G-. G. Griffiths, H. Dodson, H. R. Bagge, J. Strickland, and R. Wanden (secretary) " SOUTH ISI/AND SELECTORS. The Nelson Union wrote stating that it was favorable to the scheme of teams from the smaller unions touring the different districts prior to the selection of the North and South Island teams,, and consequently was not in favor of the Marlborough Union's proposal regarding the South Island selectors. The secretary was instructed to reply stating that this Union is of opinion that the scheme suggested hy the New Zealand Management Committee is impracticable owing to the

length of time that players would require to be away from home to carry the scheme into effect, and even if the scheme is entered on it would be to the advantage of the four unions in this northern end of this Island to hare representation on the selection committee. WEJDJPJSBAY COMPETITION. It wais decided that a Wednesday competition be conducted by the Union, provided that not less than three teams enter, and that entries close on April 10th at 7.30 p.m. REGULATIONS. Mr Strickland moved that the Wednesday: sub-committee be asked to draw up a set of regulations governing the competition, and submit it to the Union. •Mr Bagge seconded the motion, which, was carried. PLAYING GROUNDS. It was decided that application be made to the Domain Board for the use of playing grounds for the ensuing season. Mr Griffiths moved, and Mr Dodson seconded, that the question of obtaining; the A. and P. grounds for the season? be left in the hands of the ground conimittee to deal with, especially the master of getting ihe Association to drain tho No. 2 ground.—-Carried.
