EFFACE THE NATIONAL MOTTO
[press association.] (Received March 20, 10.30 p.m.) . PARIS, March 20. Revolutionary meetings are taking place at Aube. Ten thousand people, armed witn hoes, and carrying grape baskets with which the box of assessment papers was afterwards burned in the Market Place, declined to pay taxes, and effaced the motto "Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite" with red paint from the public buildings} _ .. Premier, Monis was burned m effigy. The Municipal Councils in 40 towns have resigned.
