Kirkcaldie's have just issued for circulation an illustrated catalogue snd price-list of their new autumn and winter styles, which is splendidly got up, and should b© well in demand with ladies who like to keep up to the modes of the times.

At a meeting of the Nelson City ,Council on Friday night th© Mayor said that the dam was now in a worse condition than ever previously. The level of the water that day was 13ft. Bin. from the top of the walls, or 13 inches lower than the lowest jvoint a month ago. The caretaker estimated that the outflow was 100,000 gallons in excess of the inflow. The residents should be again urged "to conserve the supply as much as possible. Councillor Field thought the waiter meter charts should be consulted more frequently. He moved that the charts be> laid on the table at each meeting. Councillor Neale seconded the motion, but pointed out that the charts were regularly studied. The motion (reports The Colonist) was carried.
