A FATAL FALL.

OAUTmTON, March 17. Word was received in Carterbon this morning of the violent death of Hugh Mitchell. F. J. Reid, late of Martinborough^ was driving a load of furniture to his property at Landsend', . and Mitchell .I*o(3© with him. Ascending a small hill near the Gladstone School.'; the, hiaxneas broke-, and the jerk causedMitchell to fall, the wheels passing ovor hjsehiesi. His ribs- were ■ crushed! and' his lungs pierced. The. ambulance and doctor were summoned from Masterton, and the Oarterton' police' communjeated with. Before medical aid arrived Mitchell had passied away. He was aged between 45 and 50 years, and had' been a great footballer and athlete. He was very popular.
