THE FLEMINGTON MEETING
CONCLUDED IN FINE WEATHER
(Received March 15, 7.45 p.m.) MELBOURNE, March 15. The Victoria Racing Club's much postponed meeting concluded in fine weather. A drying wind counteracted the effects of the night's heavy rain, and the course was in rairly good order. There was a good crowd present. The Elms: Lager,(B.l2) 1, Brewer's Crystal (6.7) 2, St. Wyne (6.11) 3. There were ten starters. Won. by a length/ Time Imin 58} sec. " 'Select Stakes: Gillamtong (7.13) 1, Flaith (8.12) 2, St. Vano (6.13) 3. Also started: North Woodleigh, Piastre, Sanskirt, and Breach. Gillamtong ran in front at the half distance and won by a length, half alength between the next two. Time Imin 30sec.
Place Handicap: Eye Glass (8.1) 1, Adagio (7.12) 2, Miss Florence (6.12) 3. Also started: Matouree, Loyal Blue, Heroya, and Chenille. HeVova and Chenille made the running. Herova led by five lengths from Bridge, and retained command to the entrance* of the straight, where Matouree took charge, when h^ was immediately challenged by Eye Glass on the rails. Miss Florence and. Adagio v had; had an exciting finish. Eye Glass wore down Adagib and won by half a length, Adajio two lengths in front of Miss Florence. „ Time 2min -38isec. Steeplechase: Charlemagne (10.8), 1, Corntax (10*12)'-2; No Trouble (10.10) 3. Also started: Boisdale, Alcuin, JLeah Kileshna, and Acute Angle. The latter again fell. . Charr, lemagnejvas always in the first divis^ion andi jumping well, led into' ;the straight by three lenths. Corntax put in a vigorous challenge under punishment. A desperate finish ensued and the race was won by a head. ' Time'6min 43fsec.
