BRITISH PICTURES

The British Pictures delighted a large , gathering of spectators last evening. The programme was one of the best, and quite up to the high standard of quality first set by the management. The "star" film, as previously stated, is a pictorial adaptation of "Convict 99." A feature of the programme is the stereoscopic clearness of the scenic films, of which ''The Bay of Rio. de Janeiro" is the best, giving as it does an excellent portrayal of the natural beauties if that well-known harbor. The different dramas shown are well enacted, the best being "The Road to Richmond," which is one of many stirring episodes in the American Civil War. The comics are still as mirth-making as usual, "The Death of Michael Grady" being a gem. The Pathe Gazette contains interesting [ newspaper happenings on the ContiI nent, the scene where Mr John .Burns, M.P., fraternises with the navvies m the opening of a large building being one of especial merit, 10-mght the pictures wilf be shown at ricton, and at Grovetown to-morrow 1 Dlgfl^. ■..•;;,-,■.■ ... :■■■..■■ 'V../ .■ .' .'.',, ';...- I
