LAND BOARD.

- The Marlborougli Land Board met yesterday, the members present beMessrs F Stephenson Smith /Commissioner), J. Fulton, J, Boyd, and A. McCallum. APPLICATIONS. The foUowing applications Were submitted for approval*— m ■ H. J. Redwood, 640 acres m Blocks 111. and IV., Gore S.D., dor -cash.) —Approved. 1 Marjory Redwood, 640 acres in Block- 111., Gore S.D., (for cash.)— Approved. .• ' , , R. H. Wemyss, section 13, Block IX., Cape Campbell S.D.—Approved. ~ , . W. H. Orsman applied for a piece of Crown land (recently withdrawn from State forest) near the cheese factory in the Rai Valley, for a store It was decided to inform Mr Orsman that the land applied for had mot been released from State torest. W. Masefield applied under section 129 of the Land Act, 1908, for adjoining land in Block 11., Gore S.D. The secretary was instructed to inform Mr Masefield that his # application would be favorably considered. H. E. Quelch applied for permission to shift fences between sections 20 and 19, Block 11., Cape Camobell S.D.; also to remove his cottage from section 20 so as to be close to present house on section 19, which is close to the main road.—Permission granted. A FORFEITURE. Messrs .Packer and Thorn wrote stating *tfhat they would forfeit their grazing rights over the Crown land between the Tinline and Pelorus Rivers after the Ist January, 1911, unless the rent was reduced. It was decided to inform Messrs Packer and Thorn that their surrender might bo accepted at the end of any quarterly period on payment -of the rents due and the removal of any stock from the land. A PROTESTC. L. Diamanti wrote protesting against the proposed boundary of the 455 acres of land applied for by him -contiguous to sections 5 and 6, Block XIV., "Wakamarina S.D. It was explained that the survey from which Mr Diamanti's lease would be prepared had been carefully and compared with the plan which was agreed to by the Board at its special meeting held recently at Canvastown. It was decided that there was no ground for Mr Diamanti 7s complaint. RECOMMENDATIONS. The Board's recommendation that ■oastoral run No. 15 be re-opened, jj joaded with the value of improve- I

ments, -was - approved by the Undersecretary for Lands. It was decided to recommend tha* the 118 acres in Block- 11., Heringa, S.D., be opened for- selection at an early date. ' WARD STREETS. Mr J. Andrews wrote on behalf of the Flaxljourne Settlers' Association pointing out the necessity for repairing the roads jn the Ward towii-f ship. " . . '. Crown tenants affected by the passing of section 799 ,of' the Act, and that "the necessary steps be taken to terminate the license -held by the Marlborough Ac--1 climatisation Society from the Crown. A RENEWAL. W. L. Borck applied for a renewal of the lease of S.G. run No. 24.—Approved. SMALL GRAZING RUNS. The Minister approved of the Board's recommendation that the lessees of S.G. runs Nos. 16, 19, and 26, be offered renewals of their lease at an increased annual rental. BRANCH RIVER BRIDGE. The Secretary of the Wairau Road Board again wrote re the expenditure of Mr Mcßeth's "thirds" on the proposed bridge over the Branch TJiver. A. Mcßeth also again wrote in regard to this matter, pointing out that •the bridge would be of no use to him where the Board proposed to erect it. He also stated that he would be prepared to erect the bridge himself in a little time. * '" "

L. Diamanti, sections 31 and 6, Blocks XIV. and XV.; T. Fuller, sections 32 and 7, Blocks XIV. and XV.; W. Ahem, sections 33 anfl 8, Blooks XIV. and XV.; W. R. Smith, section 34, Block XIV.; ■ John Ahem, section 35, Block XIV.; F. Thorns, section 36, Block XIV.; A. Thomson, section 30, Block XIV.; W. R. Pope, section 19, Block XIV.

The Awatere Road Board submitted their scheme of proposed expenditure of "fourths" amounting to £71 16s 4d, for approval.—Approved. ■ The Wairau Road Board: submitted their scheme of the proposed expenditure of "thirds" and "fourths" amounting to £71 13s, which was approved. :

The Pioton' Road Board submitted their scheme of proposed expenditure of "thirds" amounting to £32 6s 2d for approval.—Approved. The Pelorus Riad Boardi submitted their scheme of proposed expenditure of "thirds," "fourths," and "timber royalties/ amounting to £184 19s 9d, for approval.—Approved. A DEPUTATION. Mr J. Conolly appeared before the Board in behalf of Mr W. H. Porter, who held land under occupation license at Flaxbourne, and urged that the Board recommend the Mln-! ister to grant Mr Porter an extension | of tenure.

The matter was held in abeyance TRANSFERS.

Harris, section part 10, and section 21, Block VI., Gore S.D. MINING MATTERS. The Board spent a great portion of the afternoon in Committee receiving a report from Mr FloraißSS, the District Warden, in. connection with the mining and pastoral industries in and about Top Valley and Armchair Creeks. .
