Reports from the Ashburton district indicate that blight is seriously affecting turnip and rape crops. A large number of lambs are still unfit for freezing, and if the root crops are further attacked by blight the position will necessarily become somewhat serious for farmers, as other classes of feed are not too plentiful. It seems that the Ashburton County so far is bettei* off for feed than any other part of the Dominion, but a heavy rain is much needed, and would improve the feed' supply, assist to combat the blight, and facilitate the work of ploughing and general cultivation.
