HEADACHES AND BILIOUS

ATTACKS

BILE BEANS, THE WIFE'S

FRIEND

Every woriian should rely on Bile Beans as her'safeguard against sickness and ill health. "For over ten years Bile Beans ; have been a constant companion in my home," says Mrs E. Evans, of Marton Street, Charters Towers, Q. "I have never felt better in my life than since my last boy was born, and during my confinement I took nothing but Bile Beans. Periodical splitting headaches, together with acute bilious attacks and constipation were a source of great misery to me. Acting on the -advice.'of a friend I commenced with Bile Beans, and this medicine put me right almost immediately. / By continuing with Bile Beans I improved so much and put on flesh, that my doctor and hm wife both remarked on my altered appearance:. I used to walk about my room hoiding my head with the. aching and throbbing, , but now I can go about cheerfully and find a pleasure in my household duties. ' I take a dose of Bile Beans regularly and they keep the system" in good condition and ward off biliousness and indigestion."

For ten. years has Mrs Evans proved the striking worth of Bile Beans as a reliable family medicine. All mothers should always keep by them a box of Bile Beans; ; they are good for children, and especially for young girls entering upon Avomanhood. Bile Beans are sold by all stores and chemists.

Through the agency of Mr R. A. Wright, M.P., a pair of young osti'iehek have been procured for the Newtown Zoological Gardens. The birds are presented by the company which owns the ostrich farm at Puke-' kohe, near Auckland. Mr Wright made application for the birds to Mr W. F. Massey. who is a shareholder in the company, with the result that they were readily donated to the ''zoo.'* The young ostriches arrived by train on Saturday in charge of a« employee at the farm, and on being taken to Newtown Park were placed in an enclosure prepared for their reception. They each stand at present about three feet high, and their appearance suggests that they will develop into very fine specimens of their species.

At a meeting of the United Fire Brigade Conference at Hokitika, Past-president Rbbbins referred to the newspaper report of an heroic act by a boy in the Chatham Islands. The lad had discovered the house to be on fire, and after removing the younger members of the family from the burning buildings had returned, and, after a gallant struggle, succeeded in extinguishing the flames. Mr Robbins said that they, as an association, should do all they could to encourage such acts of gallantry, and he moved that the executive inquire into the truth of the report, and if it was verified that a letter be engrossed and sent tc the lad complimenting him on his bravery. The proposition, which met with the unanimous approval of the conference, was agreed' to.

Councillor Sullivan, chairman of the Dunedin City Council's water committee, states that unless rain intervenes it will probably be necessary this week to cut off what are known as extraordinary supplies, such as those to lifts and stables, after twelve hours' notice has been served. Councillor Sullivan estimates that on Saturday morning the various reservoirs contained about forty-six million gallons, or nearly three million gallons less than they held three days previously.
