CHRISTCHURCH, Marcii 13. The opinion was expressed to-day by the head-master of a large city school that the glinting of free school books by the (Government was one of the things which tended, to reduce the sense of parental responsibility. The demand that the State through the schools should relieve parents of many of their responsibilities was increasing. In some cases he knew that the anticipation that the demand would be acceded to was having a distinctly bad effect.
