A CHARGE OF MURDER

[press association.] CHRISTCHURCH. March 9. Walter Sadler and Harry Jack appeared in Court this morning charged -with tho murder of Ethel May Bradley on February 7 ; th. Evidence was given by Ernest Bradley, deceased's brother, and Clara Bradley, her sister-in-law, regarding identification. W. H. Price said he- was in Sadler's shop^till 8.35 p.m. on February 7th ' going through the books. H© left Sadler's at 8.45 p.m., and returned along the street at 9 p.m., when he met Jack and' others and had drinks at the Zetland Hotel. He was with Jack till 9.30 p.m. During that time Sadler did not enter the hotel, and Jack bought no whisky in a bottle. Evidence regarding Jack's movements £,t the Zetla rid Hotel was given by various witnesses, several of whom said he met & woman in <a dark dress at the rear of the hotel at 8.30 p.m. and walked towards the river with . her. Police officers gave evidence regarding tho visits to the right-of-way in which Bradley V body was found. They declared the body was not there at.2 a.m. - Constable Cuddy deposed thiat he met Jack and Sadler near Sadler's shop at 2.10 a.m. on February Sth. They said they were out getting fresh ■air, and had tried to get a drink at the Zetland Hotel. They went south, along Durham Street.
