BUTCHERS v. WAIRAU HOCKEY
CLUB
The Butchers continued their v ictorious career yesterday afternoon by defeating the Wairau Hockey Club's team with the handsome margin of an innings and 66 runs to spare. The wieldehs,of the hockey stick batted first, but toiild make' no headway against the deadly bowling of Mills and Radd. who finished* up with the splendid averages of 6 for 7, and 4 for 15. The innings closed for 29, Harris. (9) being top scorer. Tho Butchers' inningsi was a little more -successful, the total when the last man was dismissed being 135. Mills, of senior fame, had a glorious time at the expense of the bowlers, making 75, included in which were three sixers, v Chandler and O'Balloran both hatted long and well for 15 apiece T. Hay, Hester, and Browne trundled successfully. One hundred rand six runs to the bad, Wairau Hockey Club began their second innings, but, alas! for their laurels, the bowling of O'Sallivan snd Chandler was too effective, the attempt closing for 40, of which Hester top-scored with a hard-hit 10.
