AUCKLAND, March 8. The two-storeyed) residence of Edmund Mahoney, solicitor, at Rerimera, was dtestroyed by fire at midnight in the absence; of the family and s^rvari'ts. The whole of the furniture was destroyed. The building \vas owned by Hale, of Wellington. The polico had been informed that the dwelling would be unoccupiedl for some time, and a. constable was proceeding to the house to see if everything was safe when he saw the building ablaze.
