WANDERINGS OF A SINGER.

A CHAT WITH MDLLE DOLOKES

It is now some four years since Mile Dolores, the celebrated French soprano, visited the Dominion. In the course of a chat with a member cf the Press Mile Dolores gave an interesting account of her wanderings. "After leaving New Zealand on our last visit," said Mile Dolores, "I went to Scotland, where I ahvays receive a warm welcome. Then I gave a series of concerts in Germany. Then I took a. rest for a few months in Germany, -at of which was occupied in perfecting my knowledge of German, to enable me to extend my repertoire of German songs, of which I have now a large number. A visit to England followed, where a number of engagements with different musical people were arranged. In 1909 an extended visit was paid to South Africa, and for seven months I toured the various cities. Daring this tour I gave no fewer than sixty-four concerts, the programmes comprising classical, operatic, folk songs and ballads, ranging from the earliest period to the most modern. I was the pioneer of the individual vocal recital in South Africa, and the success exceeded my anticipations. A short visit to England followed, and then I commenced a world tour for the fifth time. In Sydney we received quite an ovation, and thence we went to Queensland. Our tour in Victoria, South Australia, and West Australia was a most successful one. The tour of the Dominion began in Invercargill, where we '"freived thai warm welcome which New Zealanders always give us. The same pleasant experifi?ine awaited us in Dnnsdin, win'!'e I was most enthusiastically received. The season in Christchurch resulted in great success, tlio company having to extend their season. Mile Dolores is booked to appear in Blenheim on Thursday, 16th March. Prices and full particular will be advertised later.
