Hartnell (Taranaki) £3. TEAMS CHAMPIONSHIP. Linton Rifle Club 1, Opaki Rifle Club 2, Ohma Rifle Club 3. RIFLE CLUB'S COHFERENCE. A conference of rifle clubs was held on Tuesday evening at Trentham, practically every club in New Zealand being represented. Rifleman H. Marshall, president of the Karori Club, was voted to the chair, and Rifleman E. Coady, of the same club, acted as secretary of the conference, which was held in committee.

The following resolutions were adopted:— I—That the Government be approached on the question of having a sufficient stock of rifles in hand for sale to members of rifle clubs.

2—That the Government be aiv proached with a request that ammunition for rifle clubs (this applies especially to country clubs) be railed free of charge. 3—That the distinctive badge of rifle clubs be a- colored hat-band, and that all colors be registered. 4—That in the opinion of rifle clubs a standard; set of rules be adopted for all defence rifle clubs in New Zealand.

s—That a uniform set of officers be adhered to by alj rifle clubs, as laid down in the regulations. . 6—That the Defence Department be asked to obtain a contract price for the supply of uniforms to clubs, delivery to be taken in any quantity as required, or, in the alternative, to stock an approved material which clubs may requisition for in any quantity and have made up. 7^-That the conference be asked to pass a vote of thanks to Mr Wentney for presenting a shield for competition, and to Mr Field., M.P., and members of Parliament for their efforts on behalf of rifle clubs.

B—That in the interest of the improvement of rifle clubs the Defence Department be respectfully asked that the scale of allowances and price of supplies be the same in New Zealand as now obtains in Australia. 9—That it be asked that rifle clubs be granted representation on the executive of the Dominion Rifle Association.

10—That all resolutions passed at this conference be submitted to the various rifle clubs prior to further action being taken. The executive committee consisting of Presidents Marshall (Karori), Hobbs (Eastbourne), and Jackson (suburbs), Vice-Presidents McLachlan (Petone), Halliday (Karori). and Rifleman E. Coady (secretary) was appointed to act in the interests of the rifle clubs generally during the ensuing year. A committee of rules, representative of the North and South Islands (seven members for each island) was appointed to draft a set of rules.
