VEHICLES AXLE DEEP IN THE STREETS.

[press association.] (Received March 8, 0.15 a.m ) MELBOURNE, MarchV. A remarkably heavy storm occurred this afternoon. Blinding rain fell and the streets were submerged, and the railways in many places covered, the trams .ploughing through the floods. Vehicles were axle deep in many of the streets, and the water is over the footpaths. Races and all outdoor events were postponed, and there was considerable damage done.
