TAIHAPE, March 7. H. R. Middle-ton, foreman of the Powell Process Works at Rangataira, while in charge of the working of tho "stumping devil" yesterday afternoon, owing to the snapping of a hook, was struck a blow in the side of the head, which smashed it, and caused instantaneous death. The break.occurred when the machine was at its maximum pressure. He leaves a widow and two children.
