OBITUARY.
[PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
WELLINGTON, March 6. The Hon. Mr W. C. Smith is dead, aged 67 years, at Waipukuran, from pneumonia. He was a member of the Lower House from 1881 to 1893, and was called to the Legislative Council 'in 1895. Alfred Ashbolt, for 26 years foreman printer at the New Zealand Times office, i sdead, aged 63 years. He was a keen cricketer, and was at one time selector for the Wellington representatives. S. J. Jago, late Chief Postmaster at Wellington, died at Perth, West Australia, on March 2nd. He was Chief Postmaster at Napier from ISB6 to 1902, and had been connected with the Postal Service for forty years
D.UNEDIN, March 4. Dr. Douglas of Queenstown is dead. He was in charge of Frankton Hospital from 1864 to 1910.
