The funeral took place this morning of Mi*. George Baldick, a wellknown resident of Blenheim, who died last week in Dunedin while on a holiday visit to that city. The body was brought to Blenheim and interred in the- Omaka Cemetery.

A Fielding telegram gives information of the death of George Wheeler, the first settler in Manchester block, and for twelve years chairman of the Oroua County Council, and formerly president of the Sheep Breeders' Association.

The Hon.. 'William Cowper Smith, M.L.C.. ex-Chairman of Committees of the'L-egislative Council, died at Waipukurau on Sunday, aged 67 years. The deceased, who had been ill for some time, succumbed to an attack of piiei?monia.

Mr S. J. Jago, late Chief Postmaster at Wellington, died at Perth, Western Australia, on March 2nd. He was Chief Postmaster at Napier from 1886' to 1902, and acted in that capacity for a short period at Wellington prior to his retirement from the New Zealand postal service, with Which he had been connected for about forty years.
